It varies in length according to the volume of the abdomen. There is a tendency to follow the line of the swimsuit, which is now more revealing.

Pregnancy
The surgery can only be performed 6 months after a pregnancy, when the organic tissues have returned to normal. Once the decision for abdominoplasty is made, it is recommended to plan for an effective contraceptive method since a subsequent pregnancy may
compromise the results already achieved.

Anesthesia
It can be epidural or general.

PRE-OPERATIVE

1) Complementary exams to be specified.
2) Photograph of the abdomen, which is important for evaluation, surgical planning, and documentation.
3) Provide a shaping garment (belt) and bring it to the clinic on the day of surgery.
4) Arrive at the clinic on the agreed day and time, preferably accompanied.
5) Do not bring jewelry and other valuables to the clinic.
6) Do not paint your nails.
7) Any occurrences such as illnesses (flu, fever, infection) or other reasons that may lead to the suspension of the surgery should be reported in advance. 8) Arnica can be used to avoid bruising. This should be started one week to ten days before the surgery. Consult with your doctor for guidance on important pre-operative medications for healing and body balance, aiming for a better recovery.

CARE

1) Fasting for at least 6 hours before the start of the surgery.
2) Medication for hypertension and other diseases should be reported for further guidance.
3) Do not take medication containing acetylsalicylic acid (e.g., AAS,
Rhonal, Buferin, Aspirin), one week before and one week after the
surgery as it increases bleeding.
4) Discontinue weight loss medications 15 days before the surgery.
5) Do not smoke 15 days before and 15 days after the surgery.
How about taking the opportunity to quit smoking?

POST-OPERATIVE

Pain
It is not significant, but sensitivity is individual.

Hospital Stay
Generally, 24 to 48 hours.

First Dressings
Dressing with bandage right after the surgery, which will be changed on the first day and will remain for 15 days. Additionally, it is mandatory to use the
shaping garment over the dressing.

Posture
Walk as upright as possible.

Shower
Shower 24 hours after discharge. Dry the micropore with a hairdryer.

Clothing
Try to wear loose clothing that does not tighten around the abdomen.

Diet
Normal. Avoid carbonated drinks and eat smaller portions.

Physical Efforts
Do not drive and do not lift weights for one month.
Exercise and swimming after four months. Progressive walking can be started after one month.
Avoid high heels.

Removal of Stitches
The stitches are internal and absorbed by the body, they do not need to be
removed.

Sexual Relations
After three weeks, moderate sexual relations.

Dressings after Discharge
Use of micropore 50 mm for two months, changing once a
week.

Shaping Garment
Constant use, day and night, for two months.

Sun
Expose the abdomen to the sun only after one month.

Massage
Gentle lymphatic drainage massage is recommended for 2 months, which helps in recovery by reducing swelling more quickly and aiding in the dissolution of small bruises.

Sensitivity
Normally, there is a decrease in sensitivity in the area. The
recovery is gradual, and a small area may remain less sensitive.

"WILL THIS DISAPPEAR?"
Every surgery involves its own recovery period. Give it time, as your body takes care of dissipating small issues that will inevitably catch someone's attention: "Will this disappear?" Do not hesitate to communicate any concerns; we will provide the necessary clarifications for your peace of mind.

RESULT

During the first four months post-surgery, the area will appear slightly swollen (edematous), and over time, there will be a gradual settling of organic tissues.

The scar will initially be more reddish and hardened, then it will become paler and thinner. This process is slow and may take several months. However, it is not possible to predict exactly how it will turn out, as the process depends not only on the technique used and post-operative care but also on individual factors.

After the initial four months, a re-evaluation and new photograph will be taken for comparison of pre and post-operative (before and after). If this re-evaluation indicates the need for any touch-up, a procedure considered common in plastic surgery, it should be performed after the 6th month and within a maximum of 10 months after the surgery.

ABDOMINOPLASTY WHAT IS IT?
