GLUTEAL PROSTHESIS

WHAT IS GLUTEAL PROSTHESIS SURGERY?
Gluteoplasty or gluteal prosthesis is the surgery for placing a silicone prosthesis to increase the size of the buttocks.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

Scar
When we proceed with the inclusion of the prosthesis, the scar is positioned in the intergluteal fold, remaining in a discreet and less visible area.

Anesthesia
It can be epidural or general, as indicated by the anesthesiologist.

Surgical Time
One to two hours.

Age
Once you have stopped growing, after adolescence.

Capsular Retraction
Silicone is an inert material, meaning it is not rejected by the body. What happens is that the body forms a capsule around the prosthesis which, in turn, should remain without contraction. The prostheses have evolved to textured capsules and cohesive gel (which does not leak). These two advancements allow for results with a low incidence of contractions.

Warranty
The prosthesis comes from the factory with a 10-year warranty. Replacement is not necessary after this period, but a return to the office for examination is required.

Sitting
The prosthesis does not interfere. The prosthesis (A) is placed between the muscles (B) and above the ischial processes which are the support when sitting.

Intramuscular Injections
After the placement of the prosthesis, the use of injections in the buttocks is prohibited. It is advised to use the anterior thigh or arm muscles.

PRE-OPERATIVE

1 - Complementary exams to be specified.
2 - Photography of the area is important for evaluation, surgical planning, and documentation.
3 - Provide a pair of shorts for postoperative use and bring it to the clinic on the day of surgery.
4 - Arrive at the clinic on the agreed day and time.
5 - Do not bring jewelry or other valuables to the clinic.
6 - Do not paint your nails.
7 - Any intercurrence such as illnesses (flu, fever, infection) or other reasons that may lead to the suspension of surgery should be reported in advance.
8 - Arnica can be used to prevent bruising. This should be started one week to ten days before the surgery. Have an evaluation with the clinician for guidance on important pre-operative medications for healing and body balance, aiming for better recovery.

CARES

1 - Fasting for at least 6 hours before the start of surgery.
2 - Medication for hypertension and other diseases should be reported for further guidance.
3 - Do not take medication containing acetylsalicylic acid (e.g., AAS, Rhonal, Buferin, Aspirin) one week before and one week after surgery as it increases bleeding.
4 - Discontinue weight loss medications 15 days before surgery.
5 - Do not smoke 15 days before and 15 days after surgery. How about taking the opportunity to quit smoking?

There may be a sensation of pressure that passes in 2 days.

"WILL THIS DISAPPEAR?"

Every surgery involves its own recovery period. Give it time, and your body will take care of dissipating small disturbances that will inevitably attract someone's attention who will not refrain from observing: "Will this disappear?" Do not hesitate to communicate any concerns to us. We will provide the necessary clarifications for your peace of mind.

RESULT

From the second month, a new photo session takes place for comparison of pre and post-operative (before and after) until the 6th month. At the 6th month, there will be a re-evaluation for discharge or any touch-up if necessary. The touch-up, considered common in plastic surgery, should be performed after the 6th month and within one year after the surgery.
